RAISED MOLES / ON THE FACE
RAISED MOLES, ESPECIALLY ON THE FACE OR OTHER EXPOSED AREAS, ARE PERCEIVED AS BOTHERSOME.
IN MANY CASES, PEOPLE HAVE LIVED WITH THESE ANNOYING MOLES SINCE THEY WERE CHILDREN, OUT OF FEAR OF REMOVAL AND / OR THE POSSIBILITY OF SCARRING. HOWEVER, THEY CAN BE REMOVED PAINLESSLY AND WITHOUT SCARRING.

What exactly are raised moles or birthmarks?
All benign spots, marks, and warts. But also, age spots (especially on the back of the hand), fibroids or age warts and any other annoying blemishes. If these are completely flat, they are perceived as less bothersome. If they are raised from the surface of the skin, they are often felt to be cosmetically and /or aesthetically unpleasant. In addition, nails, clothing, or other objects can get caught on raised moles and cause injuries.
Do I have to just accept these skin growths?
Sometimes people are prepared to tolerate raised moles and skin growths without having them removed. This happens for several reasons.
- You just got so used to the birthmark that it does not bother you.
- You have had the birthmark since childhood, and you would not recognize your face / body without it.
- You think that the birthmark is better than a possible scar.
But once the raised birthmark, mole or wart is removed, no patient has ever missed it.
How does removal work?
Thanks to the latest laser technologies in our practice in Vienna, we can offer you a painless and, above all, scar-free removal. You can therefore easily get rid of annoying protruding or raised moles, birthmarks, or warts. The result is usually much better than surgical removal.
The treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. You will not feel any pain during the treatment. The skin may become slightly irritated afterwards.
Can these moles be indicative of skin cancer?
If a mole looks suspicious on critical examination, a sample is taken before removal. This sample will be sent for histological examination to rule out skin cancer. In this way, the risk of skin cancer can be reliably checked. Removal can be performed immediately by laser after the sample has been taken.
If the histological examination, which takes around two weeks after removal, confirms the suspicion of skin cancer, the removal site will be re-treated with a safe margin. This newly removed tissue is then sent again for histological examination to confirm that the remaining tissue is healthy.
We strongly recommend regular skin cancer screening examinations of the whole body.
What should I be aware of after treatment?
On the day of the treatment, you should refrain from exercising and sauna. You must make sure that the treated area is not exposed to friction. We will give you a recommendation for a wound healing ointment that supports rapid healing. It is also important that you consistently use the highest possible sun protection in the following weeks.
How much does treatment cost?
For the treatment of a raised mole, a cost of around 225-240 euros (including consultation) should be budgeted. For additional moles, the cost will be around 70 euros each.
