Rejuvenation of the back of the hand
Our hands are a calling card that we show every time we meet others. Like our face, they are constantly exposed to the environment. With age, the backs of hands lose moisture and elasticity, and age spots appear. If you want to look younger, you should not only think about your face but also the back of your hands.

Why does the skin on the hands age faster?
Just like our face, our hands are also constantly exposed to environmental influences. Hands are not covered by clothing and are often exposed to the sun. In addition, depending on occupation and activity, often exposed to other influences. The skin on the back of the hand is very thin and quickly loses moisture and elasticity. As a result, the skin rests thinly on the underlying bones and forms wrinkles. In addition, age spots can come from the effects of the sun.
The aging process becomes more pronounced, especially from the age of 40. The process is a combination of volume loss (breakdown of fat pads), excess soft tissue (too much skin as a result of the volume loss) and pigmentation disorders (spots from the sun).
Why a hand rejuvenation?
It is often said that the hands show a person's real age. Especially when there is a big discrepancy between hands and a youthfully groomed face (keyword: aesthetic harmony of the body). Above all, traces of skin aging on the face of women can be reduced well through care and wrinkle treatment as well as make-up. But then you shouldn't forget your hands with pigment and age spots, sagging skin and emerging veins.
What are the options for rejuvenating the back of the hand?
Against volume loss & excess soft tissue: Filling substances are introduced into the back of the hand. The procedure of injection is also the same used on the face, neck and décolleté. Hyaluronic acid filler is used in all cases. These are injected between the veins on the back of the hand with special, blunt cannulas. The back of the hand is padded and the skin is moisturized. The procedure is painless as light anesthetics are administered directly before the treatment. The backs of the hands appear firmer, firmer and smoother, the vein markings are reduced.
Pigment disorders: Age spots on the back of the hand can best be removed with the PICO laser. The pigment spots must be checked in advance that it is not malignant sun damage. If this can be ruled out, however, the age spots are treated with the laser and completely disappears within a few weeks. Often only one treatment is necessary for this.
We offer both treatment options in our practice at the main train station in Vienna. Together with the other options of dermatological-aesthetic medicine, we can offer you holistic concepts.
Is the treatment painful?
Both procedures for rejuvenating the back of the hand are low-risk and painless and do not require extensive follow-up treatment. There is usually slight swelling that will go away on its own after a few days.
What do I have to look out for after the treatment?
The hands should not be strained too much in the first few days. If laser abrasion was done, hands should be kept away from water. You are largely able to continue wih normal activities, you may only have a large plaster on the back of your hand to cover the areas treated by the laser. Strict sun protection is recommended after treatment. Otherwise there are no restrictions after the procedure.
How long does the result last?
The results of the injection last between 6-18 months depending on the skin damage. Age spots removed from the surface usually take a long time to return and often do not become as severe as they were before the treatment
